Cumming provided construction management services to the City of Santa Monica for their Fire Station No. 1 replacement project. The previous Fire Station No. 1 did not meet existing seismic codes nor the city’s future requirements. The new station is 28,690 sq. ft. in total size, spread over two stories, with a 18,348-sq.-ft. basement and subterranean parking garage. The $28 million project also included seven apparatus bays, offices, equipment storage and repair rooms, 20 dorm rooms, a four-stop elevator, showers, a kitchen, a workout room, and exterior decks on the second floor, as well as alley repaving, installation of a deep-well stormwater infiltration system, and landscaping. The station is equipped with diesel and unleaded gasoline storage tanks along with a diesel emergency generator.
