The Barbara Walters Campus Center is located in the center of Sarah Lawrence College’s campus in Bronxville, NY, and is the institution’s first major capital project in almost a decade. Primary program elements include multi-purpose spaces, dining, student meeting areas, and an archive and gallery dedicated to Barbara Walters, who is an alumna of the school. The goal of the campus center is to be a magnet for intellectual, cultural, and social life for the campus community, providing a gathering place for students’ formal and informal socializing, conversation, and collaborative work.

Cumming Group was one of the first consultants engaged on this assignment and provided full-time project management services. We were the primary liaison with Sarah Lawrence administration and operations, the design and construction team, and subconsultants. We provided services from design through construction closeout and final turnover to campus operations facilities, playing an integral role in implementing a multi-faceted program with amenity spaces that are flexible and complement one another.
