PUBLIC Hotel, New York City, NY

Cumming Group was retained by the joint venture of Witkoff Group and Ian Schrager Group to serve as Development Advisor for the PUBLIC Hotel and Residences in New York City. The new 28-story, 258,000 SF property in Lower Manhattan includes 376 guestrooms and 11 luxury condos. Also included are a nightclub, two Jean- Georges Vongerichten restaurants, three bars, and related public areas. PUBLIC’s hip concept incorporates a minimalist approach, providing guests with an affordable yet comfortable, high-quality room. The project was completed in 2017.  

More recently, after a 2021 flood at the hotel, we supported an MEP-intensive program to ensure the base building and guestrooms’ HVAC equipment are set to function and perform per design intent in preparation for property reopening. A small team of part-time project and cost managers oversaw the renovation and refurbishment of select guestrooms and public spaces as the trusted development advisor to the Ian Schrager Company.
